GAUSHALA: The locals of Dhanikar settlement in Pipara Rural Municipality-3 of Mahottari district have been living in darkness for many years.

According to Pappu Dhanikar, a local, there are 30 households in the settlement and not a single house has electricity supply so far.

The families in the settlement are living under severe poverty and most of the houses have no roof.

Some 200 members of the settlement are lighting their homes with kerosene lamp due to lack of electricity supply.

An elderly Jasodhiya Dhanikarni said that they are used to live in darkness.

The locals, who are involved in making bamboo ware, have been facing problems in their livelihood and becoming poorer and poorer day by day as their profession is not earning enough to support their families.
