Diarrhoea claims eight more lives

JAJARKOT: Even as the government has been claiming that the disease was gradually coming under control, eight more persons succumbed to the diarrhoeal outbreak in Dailekh, Achham, Jajarkot and Rukum districts today.

According to District Public Health Office Jajarkot, Khadga Bahadur Bhat KC (53) of Thalraikar VDC-4, Kalasi Damai (23) of Dandagaun-8 and Ram Bahadur Giri (42) of Majhkot-3 die due to the disease. With this, the death toll has reached 199 in the district.

Gunraj Awasti, chief, Dailekh DHPO, informed that Jhupa Bista (78) of Bhairikalika VDC-7 and Binda BK (30) of Paduka-7 lost their lives to the diarrhoeal outbreak today. The death toll in the district has reached 22. Meanwhile, according to Achham DPHO, Kalpana Bohara (8) of Wali VDC-5 Kusakadiya and Thete Dholi (48) of Hima VDC-3 died of the disease while undergoing treatment today. The toll in Achham has reached 16 so far. Thirty-five VDCs of the district have been affected with the disease, the health officials said.

According to District Police Office Rukum, Oli Damai (31) of Athbiskot VDC-6 succumbed to diarrhoea today. There, the toll has hit 46.

Meanwhile, a team of Health Minister Umakanta Chaudhari and CA members inspected the diarrhoea hit areas of Jajarkot, Rukum and Dailekh district today.
