Diarrohea persists in Achham

ACHHAM: Despite the government claim that diarrhoea had been taken under control in most districts, the disease still remains as an epidemic in many Achham districts.

According to District Public Health Office, district headquarters Mangalsen and some remote villages were still under the grip of diarrhoea. The Turmakhad VDC health post received 35 diarrhoea patients yesterday alone. In remote Rahat VDC, it has taken an epidemic shape. About a dozen people are suffering. Another health team is said to have been sent to the area. Hichma, Basti, Balata and Bhageswor are other affected VDCs. Senior health officer Sailendra Shrestha said the disease was gradually being controlled. The disease first appeared in the district two months ago. Health workers, volunteers, teachers, students and political party cadres have been mobilised for the control of the disease.
