KHOTANG: Diktel municipality has been equipped with street lamps for the first time. The lamps have been installed inside the market area in order to bring down the number of possible accidents during the dark. The solar lamps have been installed in 31 different locations in the first phase, said executive officer of the municipality Narayan Dhakal. “More will be added in cooperation with the locals”, he added. The installation of the lamps is expected to facilitate taking sick people to hospitals during the night and also help establish law and order, said chair of the town development committee chair Bhoj Kumar Basnet. The street lamps were installed at the total cost of Rs. 500,000 and they light up automatically during evening and go off in the morning. The remaining street lamps will be installed with forty per cent contribution of the locals, said Dhakal.
