Disappearance of women, children increasing in Lamjung
LAMJUNG: The Lamjung District Police Office on Wednesday said that cases of disappearance of women and children have increased in Lamjung district.
According to the DPO, as many as 69 women and 20 children were reported missing in the last fiscal year 2014/15, in which only few of them were found by police.
Chief of the DPO, Shambhu Prasad Dhakal, said the number of disappearance cases is increasing in the district.
Only 43 women and 13 children had disappeared in the district last year.
"As many as 18 women and 7 children came into contact," said Rajendra Adhikari, Inspector of Lamjung DPO.
The DPO said that 51 women and 13 children are still missing in the district.
Most of those who are still missing belong to Janajati communities. Out of 51 women, 20 people are in the age range of 18 to 20 years, 18 are in the age range 21 to 25 and five people are in age range 25 to 30.
Similarly, five people belong to age group 31-35 and three people belong to age group of 35 to 40.
Among the children, four of them are from 5 to 10 years old while others are above 11, below 16, according to the DPO.
