Distribute citizenhip certificates for timely CA polls: Sitaula

Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that distribution of Nepali citizenship certificates should be immediately initiated and displaced police posts re-established for the conduct of constituent assembly elections within mid-June.
Addressing the regional security seminar organised by the Home Ministry here today, Sitaula said: “Distribution of citizenship certificates, re-establishment of displaced people and police posts are essential for conducting constituent assembly polls on time.”
“Formation of the constituent assembly (CA)was the prime goal of the people’s movement. Elections to the CA will be held within mid-June,” Sitaula said, giving directions to security chiefs of nine districts of Narayani and Janakpur zones.
“The government has initiated work on a campaign-footing to distribute citizenship certificates and update the voters’ list within the next two months,” Sitaula said. Claiming that there are many challenges facing the security chiefs, he said: “Nepalis are heading towards a democratic process. The security chiefs should support the process.”
Sitaula also attended a high tea hosted by the Makwanpur NC(D) on the occasion of the National Reconciliation Day. On the occasion, Sitaula said: “Strong initiatives from the district level are essential for forging unification of the NC and NC-D.”
