The distribution of insurance amounts to the families of individuals killed in the earthquake that struck Jajarkot on November 3 has begun.
As of now, the amount has been handed to the families of 29 out of the 56 people who lost their lives in the disaster in Nalgad Municipality, according to Krishna Bahadur GC, spokesperson for the Karnali province government and the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law.
GC stated that the distribution occurred at a rate of Rs 200,000 per deceased individual. He mentioned that the insurance amount would be gradually distributed to beneficiaries in all municipalities within three or four days.
Before this, the provincial government had implemented a program to insure citizens domiciled in Karnali against natural disasters, and the distributed insurance amount falls under this initiative.
More than 150 people lost their lives due to the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West. Minister GC, accompanied by Insurance Authority Karnali Province Chief Padam Sodari, oversaw the distribution of the insurance amount.
Simultaneously, the Karnali Province Government has decided to immediately commence the construction of public structures damaged by the earthquake.
