Docs to shut down all services except emergency on Sunday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) today decided to shut down all medical services except emergency on Sunday, citing lack of government initiative to amend the Criminal Code Act.

According to NMA, the government did not initiate an amendment motion nor added a provision (Jail without Bail) to existing Health Workers and Health Institution Protection Act.

"In this backdrop, we have decided not to run health servicesĀ as a symbolic strike on Sunday, September 2, 2018."

Moreover, the institution has also announced a slew of protest programmes.

The association has summoned the health professionals to protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu at 12:00 pm on Sunday.

Moreover, it has asked health workers residing outside Kathmandu valley to reach respective District Administration Offices to protest.
