KATHMANDU, APRIL 5

The government has decided to introduce a two-day weekly holiday in government offices and educational institutions in response to disruptions in petroleum supply.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday decided to grant public holidays on Saturdays and Sundays, effective from Chaitra 23 (April 6), government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said.

Following the decision, office hours of government institutions have also been revised to 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, the revised working hours will not apply to educational institutions.

The government stated that the move aims to address challenges arising from the irregular supply of petroleum products in the country.
