Docs warn of dengue outbreak
Birgunj, October 13:
An epidemic of dengue fever may break out in Birgunj sub-metropolis in the absence of proper disposal of garbage and sewage, physicians today warned the sub-metropolis officials.
Nepal’s proximity to India carries with it the risk of dengue fever breaking out in large areas of the Terai, said Birgunj president of the Nepal Medical Association Dr Rakesh Barma.
At an interaction organised by the association today, Dr Barma said that the improper garbage management and indifference towards open sewage in the city are open invitations to dengue.
CDO Narendra Raj Poudel said the authorities concerned in the district have been told to take steps to prevent any outbreak of dengue fever. Pesticides are being sprayed in Birgunj sub-metropolis, he added.
