RAUTAHAT, JULY 12

A dowry allegation has surfaced following the death of 20-year-old Nisha Kumari Sah Sonar, who was found hanging in her bedroom in Katahariya Municipality-3. Her family claims she was murdered by her husband's family over dowry demands and the incident staged to appear as suicide.

Her father, Rabindra Sah Sonar of Ishnath Municipality, alleged that Nisha's husband repeatedly demanded an air conditioner, cash, and other dowry items while subjecting her to physical and mental abuse. He further claimed that the son-in-law went into hiding after the incident.

Police teams from Katahariya and Garuda carried out a preliminary investigation at the scene before sending the body to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur for post-mortem. District Police Office spokesperson DSP Basanta Gautam said the exact cause of death will only be established after the report and completion of the investigation.

He added that police are examining the case from multiple angles and collecting evidence, stressing that it would be premature to hold anyone responsible before the investigation concludes.
