DPO begins sanitation campaign in Birgunj
Birgunj, March 5
District Police Office, Parsa has launched a sanitation campaign in Birgunj, Parsa in a bid to improve police-community relations, which had soured during the months’ long Madhes agitation.
The police have also started removing posters and pamphlets from public places.
SP Raju Babu Shrestha of District Police Office, Parsa said police personnel would be deployed to clean core city areas as part of ‘Police our Friend’ campaign every week. He said the campaign would help make the city clean and beautiful and also promote tourism.
A police team today removed posters and pamphlets from walls and cleaned Ghantaghar and its surrounding areas in Birgunj as part of the campaign.
SP Shrestha said the police in coordination with Birgunj Sub-metropolis, Birgunj Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Birgunj Public College and KI Nepal had started the campaign.
Students, representatives of KI Nepal, staffers from the sub-metropolis will participate in the sanitation campaign.
Chief District Officer of Parsa Keshab Raj Ghimire, SP Shrestha, DSP duo-Hobindra Bogati and Yadav Gharti, acting chief of the sub-metropolis Prakash Amatya also participated in the cleanliness drive today.
