Biratnagar, August 12:

Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said here today an economic revolution must be launched after the political crisis is solved.

Inaugurating the newly-constructed Jaycees building at Tankisinwari of Morang, Dr Mahat said the political crisis afflicting the nation would be solved within a year as the Maoists and the government have already reached important agreements.

“The Maoists have accepted the rule of law and they and the government have reached a consensus on most points of the political agenda,” Dr Mahat said.

Stating that the country’s economy suffered due to the political crisis, Dr Mahat said lasting peace would end Nepal’s dependence on other countries. Saying that the Maoists should end the war, Dr Mahat said, “Nepal can take a great leap economically once the ceasefire becomes permanent.”
