KATHMANDU: Two persons were killed on the spot after the tipper they were travelling on met with an accident in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-14 of Dhanusha district on Saturday night, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Uday Kumar Thakur (25) of Laxminiya Rural Municipality-4  and Sanjay Paswan (18) of Naktajhij in Mithila Municipality-2 of the district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the gravel-laden tipper (Na 7 Kha 3226) en route from Dhalkebagar to Mahottari lost its control and overturned beside the road in Mujheliya at 11:15 pm yesterday, killing driver Thakur and driver's assistant Paswan.

The bodies have been sent to Janakpur Hospital for postmortem, informed the Mujheliya-based Ward Police Office.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
