Driver killed, assistant injured in Tanahun truck plunge
DAMAULI: Driver of a truck died and assistant driver sustained critical injuries after the vehicle met with an accident in Byas Municipality-12 of Tanahun district along Prithvi Highway on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Upendra Kunwar Chaudhary (34) and Purna Bahadur Praja (28), both of Madi Municipality-9 of Chitwan district.
The cement-laden truck (Na 3 Kha 2786) was en route to Pokhara when it swerved and plunged around 15 metres below the road in Ghansikuwa along Damauli-Dumre road section today morning, critically injuring both, according to District Police Office, Tanahun.
The injured duo were rushed to Damauli-based Ratnahari Hospital where Chaudhary breathed his last during the course of treatment while Praja has been referred to a health facility in Chitwan for further treatment, informed the police.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been kept at the District Hospital, Damauli for postmortem and further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
