Driver killed in Makawanpur bus collision, 30 injured

HETAUDA: A person died and 30 others sustained injuries when two buses collided head-on in Makawanpur district in the wee hours today.

The incident occurred when the bus (Na 7 Kha 936) en route to Janakpur from Kathmandu collided head-on with another bus (Na 7 Kha 2057) en route to Kathmandu from Pashupatinagar in Ilam, at Basamadi Lewat in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-3, along the East-West Highway around 3:00 am.

The deceased has been identified as Maan Bahadur Magar (40) of Udayapur, driver of the second bus.

Critically injured Magar was taken to Chure Hill Hospital in Hetauda where he passed away during the course of treatment, said police.

Meanwhile, others injured are receiving treatment at heath facilities in Hetauda and Bharatpur, informed Mukesh Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Makawanpur.

Further investigation into the incident is going on.
