Dudhaura Bridge collapses in Bara

Bara, August 13

Dudhaura Bridge at Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section along the East-West Highway has caved-in due to flood triggered by incessant rainfall in Bara.

The bridge collapsed in the middle. Earlier, the bridge had caved-in due to flood four years ago. Four years after its repair, the bridge collapsed at the same place. Since a diversion could not be constructed due to excessive flood, commuters are walking to their destinations. Collapse of the road near the Bailey bridge in the Pathlaiya-Hetauda road section has obstructed vehicular movement. After the third bridge weakened, the Bailey bridge was constructed to operate one-way traffic. Two-way traffic has resumed from the old bridge.

Vehicles were stranded after landslips fell at many places along the Pathlaiya-Hetauda road section from Friday night. Three dozers have been deployed to clear the debris, but the road is yet to come into operation. Security personnel have been mobilised to resume traffic movement.
