Eastern parts of Kailali inundated

DHANGADHI: Floods triggered by the torrential rainfall for the past three days have inundated the eastern parts of Kailali district.

Various places of the Tikaur Municpality, Janaki Rural Municipality, Bardagoriya Rural Municipality and Ghodaghodi Municipality have been inundated by the floods, said Chief Mohan Raj Joshi at the District Administration Office.

Similarly, more than 150 households have been displaced after the flood in Kandra River entered the human settlement in Ghodaghodi Municipality in the district.

Dozens of settlement are at risk as the water levels of Mohana, Kandra, Pathraiya, Kanda and Karnali Rivers are rising, he added.

Locals are having sleepless nights due to fear, informed Joshi.

They have urged the concerned authorities to relocate them to safer places.

Police, with the help of Nepal Red Cross Society, have been rescuing the victims in the incident sites.
