KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has urged the government to maintain the roads and bridges to ensure access to polling centres for the upcoming local level elections in Province number 2 on September 18.

The EC office-bearers met with Acting Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and apprised him of the condition of the road networks witnessed from the EC's onsite visit some days ago.

The Election Officers are scheduled to be deployed in 136 local levels of eight districts in Province No. 2 by coming week.

Prior to this, the EC had also drawn attention of the government regarding the road network up to the polling centres.

Visiting the EC's Office at Kantipath today, Gachchhadar said that the government has taken EC's concerns positively and seriously, and pledged to make arrangements to maintain the roads leading to the polling centres.

Talking to media after the discussions with the EC office-bearers, Gachchhadar said that the government has given top priority for the resumption of the roadways and bridges that are swept away by the recent flood.
