EC to train 21k voter educators in eight locations
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission is set to prepare total 21,000 voter educators in different eight places of the country as part of its voter education drive in view of civic polls.
Keeping in mind that it became a challenge to educate voters on the new structures of the local government and its associated framework with number of posts under inclusive provision, the EC has come up with the drive.
The women-focused voters' awareness progamme has been designed as there would be 40 per cent women participation as the candidates for the local election scheduled for May 14.
The EC has launched regional training of trainers on Saturday to contribute to hold the local level election in a free and fair manner through voters' education.
The trainers' training took place in Biratnagar, Sindhuli, Hetauda, lalitpur, Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.
Election Commissioner Ila Sharma said that the trained educators would educate voters reaching to their doorsteps for a month.
