EC urges government to comply with election code of conduct
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has expressed dissatisfaction over the government's recent decision of expanding the Cabinet against the election code of conduct.
Issuing a press release on Monday, the EC expressed discontent over the government's act of cabinet expansion when the EC had already issued seven-point decree to comply with the code of conduct.
Noting that the cabinet expansion could affect the conduction of free and fair elections, the EC has urged the government to not carry out such works.
The government has recently appointed three new cabinet ministers and a state minister when the electoral code of conduct has been in effect, the EC said.
