Eight armed robbers in police net

Gaighat, October 11:

The police today arrested five out of 13 persons involved in robbing a businessman along the Kadamaha–Gaighat road section and recovered Rs 40,000, weapons and a mobile phone set.

According to the police, the dacoits had looted Rs 2 lakh and two mobile phone sets from Ashok Lal Amatya, who was travelling in a minibus bound for Siraha, Lahan.

The police identified the arrested as Kailash Ram, Sri Mandal Shah, Suresh Shah, Binod Shah of Siraha Lahan bazaar and Shyam Kumar Chaudhary of Saptari Madhupatti, adding that others managed to flee. The police are on the lookout for other dacoits.

Meanwhile, the police arrested three youths on the charge of looting Dipak Tamang. The arrested were: Amir Sarki, Santosh Karki and Khoga BK of Dharan Municipality-15. The three had been absconding after looting Rs 1,600, a gold ring and a mobile set from Tamang when he was heading to his home in Manebhanjyang village development committee-5 from Ghoretar.

The police are investigating the case.
