KATHMANDU, AUGUST 3
Police have arrested eight individuals from various districts across the country on Saturday for possession of illegal drugs, including substances resembling brown sugar, heroin, and large quantities of controlled medicine.
In Jumla, 20-year-old Tikaraj Kami, a resident of Bohora village in Chandannath Municipality-10, was arrested with 4.49 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar. Police from the District Police Office, Jumla, recovered the drugs during a house search.
In Kanchanpur, 30-year-old Ganesh Bisht of Bedkot Municipality-9 was detained with 5.08 grams of suspected heroin following a raid by a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Mahendranagar Branch.
In Sunsari, police apprehended two individuals, 36-year-old Hem Bahadur Tamang and 28-year-old Milan Thapa Magar, with 2,910 tablets of Tramadol during a late-night operation in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City. The drugs were recovered from Milan's rented apartment.
In Kailali, 21-year-old Aryaman Chaudhary of Dhangadhi-7 was arrested from Barrel area with 330 milligrams of suspected brown sugar. Later the same night, police detained Rajesh Chaudhary (28) and Bhuvan Chaudhary (28) from Campus Chowk, Dhangadhi-8, with 100 milligrams of suspected heroin.
In Chitwan, police arrested 32-year-old Dhiraj Lama from Gazipur, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-17, in possession of 11.7 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar.
Further investigations are underway in all the cases, police added.
