CHITWAN, DECEMBER 16

Police arrested eight persons with non-prescription drugs worth Rs 31 lakh from Thori of Parsa yesterday.

The police team held the accused from a vehicle heading towards Madi from Thori.

Police made the arrested persons public at a press meet organised at Chitwan District Police Office today.

The arrested have been identified as Raj Kumar Mahato, 28, Harisaran Chaudhary, 28, of Chitwan’s Kalika Municipality, Bal Krishna Mahato, 22, and Milan Mahato, 22, of Madi Municipality, Suraj Gautam, and Prakash Dahak, 23, of Makawanpur Gadi Municipality.

Similarly, Ujjwal Pokhrel, 25, and Bipin Sapkota, 23, of Hetauda sub-metropolis were held.

According to SP Nanti Raj Gurung of Chitwan District Police Office, drugs worth Rs 21 lakh was seized.

Similarly, illegal medicines worth nearly Rs 10 lakh was also seized from Bagahi khola’s bushes of Madi.

Further investigation into the case is under way, said police. SP Gurung said that preparation was under way to send the seized drugs to the department of drug management.
