Eight people held for illegal sand mining
TILOTTAMA: The District Police Office Rupandehi has arrested as many as eight people, on the charge of illegal mining of sand and stones, on Sunday.
The arrest comes at a time when the sand and stone smugglers have become active in the district as the police is preoccupied in dealing with the ongoing agitation in different parts of the Terai.
The police held eight people with tractors loaded with sand and stones from different places of the Rupandehi District. They were arrested for illegally extracting sand, pebbles and stones, police stated.
