The Election Code of Conduct–2082 for the March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) election came into effect from midnight on Sunday, 45 days ahead of the polls.
Election Commission (EC) spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the decision was taken at a commission meeting to ensure free, fair and fearless elections.
The code has been published in the Nepal Gazette and implemented under Section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073.
The code applies to government and provincial ministers, constitutional bodies, local governments, civil servants, political parties and their sister organisations, universities, media houses and other public agencies.
