EC makes public details of constituencies

Kathmandu, October 3

The Election Commission today issued a notice about the details of electoral districts for the parliamentary and provincial elections delineated by the Constituency Delimitation Commission.

Kathmandu has 10 parliamentary electoral districts, the highest so far.

There are 156 parliamentary first-past-the-post seats and 330 provincial FPTP seats in the country.  Provincial FPTP constituencies double up in provinces in comparison to parliamentary constituencies.

Provincial and parliamentary polls are scheduled to be held on November 26 and December 7.

As per the details of constituencies, there are 26 FPTP electoral districts in Province 1 with six FPTP constituencies in Morang district.

There are five FPTP seats in Jhapa and four in  Sunsari, two in Ilam and Udaypur and  one each  Taplejung, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Terhathum, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga and khotang .

There are 16 parliamentary electoral districts in eight districts of Province 2- Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa —  with each district having four electoral districts.

Province 3 has 33 FPTP seats with Kathmandu having 10 of them. There are three FPTP seats in Lalitpur and Chitwan, two in each of Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Kavreplanchowk, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Nuwakot and Dhading.

There is one seat in Dolakha,   Ramchhap and Rasuwa.

There are 18 FPTP seats  in Province 4 — three in Kaski district  and two each in Gorkha, Tanahun, Syngja, Baglung and Nawalparasi Bardghat Susta East. There is one FPTP seat each in Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi and Parvat.

There are 26 FPTP seats in Province 5. There are  five electoral districts in Rupandehi three each in   Kapilvastu, Dang and Banke, two each in Gulmi, Palpa, Nawalparasi Bardghat Susta West and Bardiya.

Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rolpa and Rukum East have one FPTP seat each.

There are 12 FPTP seats in Province 6 with  two each in Surkhet and Dailekh  and  one seat each inDolpa, Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Salyan, Jajarkot and Rukum West.

There are 16 FPTP seats in Province 7 —  five in Kailali,  three in Kanchanpur and two in Achham district. There is one seat each in  Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula.
