EC organises all-party meet for polls
BIRATNAGAR: The Election Commission Regional Office, Biratnagar convened an all-party meeting here today in connection with the preparations for the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly taking place on November 26.
On the occasion, the stakeholders held discussions on making the elections well-organised, fear-free and fair. They also deliberated on the abidance to the election code of conduct, management of the polling centres, voter education, the election code to be followed by the political parties and other election related activities.
Morang Chief District Officer (CDO) Ram Prasad Acharya shared that all the four security bodies have been mobilised for holding the election in a free, fair and fear-free environment. Morang chief election officer and District Court Judge Raju Kumar Khatiwada stressed the need for all the political parties and their candidates to strictly abide by the election code.
Chief of the District Coordination Committee Naresh Pokharel said the Constitution would go into full implementation only with the success of the federal elections.
At the programme, leaders of the political parties called on the Election Commission (EC) to pay attention to getting the stakeholders abide by the election code of conduct. They also suggested to the EC to pay attention to making the voter education effective, learning from the same during the local level elections.
EC Regional Office Chief Prem Prasad Sanjel shed light on the preparations being made for the elections. Morang District has 644,782 voters which is the the largest number in the country.
