Election education programme

The Election Commission’s voters’ education and training chief Surya Prasad Aryal today underscored the role of journalists in creating free, fair and fearless atmosphere for elections.

Speaking at a training and interaction in Rajbiraj, Aryal said the programme was held to make the third round of local level polls in Province 2 a success. He clarified that free, fair and fearless election will be counted in the national and international arenas.

The Office of the Returning Officers of Province 2 has already been set up for the polls.

“Around 3,568 persons will be mobilised as volunteers to educate voters, while a total of 292 volunteers will be mobilised in Saptari district alone.

Press Council Nepal member Nabal Kishor Yadav urged the journalists to abide by the election code of conduct.

Saptari Chief District Officer Bhagirath Pandey, District Election Office Chief Mahesh Kumar Thakur, among others, were present at the function.

Meanwhile, they also organised mock voting at the function.
