With nomination for the local level polls slated for May 13 over, poll fever has started gripping Saptari.
Even in scorching heat, candidates have started visiting doorto door canvassing votes. Candidates, party leaders and their supporters can be seen visiting doorto-door on bikes, four-wheelers and bicycles.
A total of 3,302 candidates have filed their candidacies for 856 posts at nine municipalities and nine rural municipalities in the district. As many as 64 candidates have filed their nominations for the posts of mayors in nine municipalities.
Locals can also be overheard talking about the polls and candidates from different parties.
Common people want honest, visionary and good candidates elected in the polls.
Election fever is running high in Rajbiraj. Irsad Ansari from Nepali Congress, Bhimraj Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party, Dipendra Chaudhary of Loktantrik Samajwadi party and Shambhu Prasad Yadav from CPN-Maoist Centre have filed their nominations for the post of mayor at Rajbiraj Municipality.
Similarly, CPN-UML's Anil Jha and CPN (Unified Socialist)'s Nuthani Das, among others, have also filed their candidacies for the post of mayor.
Candidates have drafted their poll strategies trying to woe the voters.
