DHANGADI, APRIL 29
With local polls just a fortnight away, election fever has gripped Dhangadi Sub-metropolitan City in Sudurpaschim Province.
Mayoral candidates are visiting door-to-door canvassing votes.
Nepali Congress has fielded erstwhile mayor Nrip Bahadur Odd on behalf of ruling alliance while CPN-Maoist Centre has fielded its candidate as deputy mayor.
Gopi Hamal, who was the nearest rival to Odd in the last local polls, has registered his candidacy as an independent candidate for mayor.
CPN-UML has fielded Rana Bahadur Chand for the post of mayor.
Mayoral candidate Odd representing the ruling alliance expressed confidence that no one could defeat candidates of the ruling alliance.
CPN-UML's mayoral candidate Rana Bahadur Chand, however, claimed that his party would come first in the local polls in the sub-metropolis. "Since UML is well-managed from local level through province to centre, UML will bag the victory in the polls,"
Chand claimed.
