Election only way for peace: Minister

Bhaktapur, November 1:

Assistant Minister for Physical Planning and Works Jagat Prasad Gauchan has said election is the only option for peace, consolidation of democracy and development of the country.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the National Democratic Youth Association, Area No.1 to exchange greetings on the occasion of Deepawali and Nepal Sambat 1126.

Election is the foundation of democracy, Gauchan said and accused some political parties of working to disturb the forthcoming municipality elections.

However, he claimed that the elections to be held on February 8 would see maximum people’s participation. Also speaking on the occasion were Rastriya Prajatantra Party central member Bhuvan Pathak, Bhaktapur District Development Committee Chairman Surendra Pratap Shah, Vice-chairman Ramhari Thapa among others. The Association’’s Area number 1 President Rabindra Pratap Shah presided.

The Association also took out a motorcycle procession to mark the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1126. The rally that began from Sallaghari passed through Madhyapur and Bhaktapur city before dispersing on reaching Kharipati.
