Electioneering gains momentum in Baitadi
BAITADI: Political parties have started preparation for upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies in Baitadi district.
With the recommendation of name of candidates, four major political parties have accelerated election campaign. The Nepali Congress has sent the list of candidates at the central committee after it failed to finalise the name of the candidate in the district. The CPN-UML has also sent the name of candidates at provincial committee for the same.
The CPN Maoist Centre, however, became successful to finalise the name of candidates in the district on September 21.
Likewise, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has sent the name of proportional candidates at the central committee. The NC has speeded up the election campaign by launching second series of Chartare Loktantrik Chautari, said NC District Secretary Bir Bahadur Bista.
He said, "They have started interaction with people through the campaign as victory of the NC is necessary for social and economic transformation in the society."
Similarly, CPN-UML District Secretary Leeladhar Bhatta said that the party has started expanding organisation at different places of the district focusing the election.
The CPN Maoist Centre has launched 'Jham Campaign' to guarantee its victory in the elections while RPP has also launched election related programmes along with recommendation of proportional candidates.
The election to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies is taking place in Baitadi on November 26. An office of Chief Election Officer has been established at the district headquarters in view of upcoming elections, said District Election Officer Madhav Phuyal.
Judge at the District Court, Baitadi, has been assigned as the Chief Election Officer and he has started election related activities.
There are altogether 132,317 voters in the district.
