Tuskers create havoc in Saptari, damage two houses

RAJBIRAJ: A herd of wild elephants that came from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve wrecked havoc in a village in the eastern part of the Saptari district on Sunday.

According to Police Inspector Gaurav Mahat, the tuskers that came out of the Reserve in two groups damaged the houses belonging to Ganesh Poudel of Phattepur, Saptakoshi Municipality-2 and Ramchan Sada of Kanchanrup Municipality-6 in the district.

Although no casualty was reported in the incident, the tuskers damaged the food items, utensils, clothes and other household goods, Mahat added.

The locals together with a team of police deployed from the Kanchanpur Area Police Office chased away the wild beasts back to the Reserve.
