Elevator service at Bindabasini temple for elderly, disabled persons

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today inaugurated an elevator installed at Bindabasini temple in Pokhara.

The sixty-feet tall elevator was installed at the cost of Rs one crore. Inaugurating the elevator, President Bhandari said it would help promote religious tourism in Pokhara. “With the elevator coming into operation, elderly persons and the physically disabled will also be able to offer prayers at the temple,” she added.

Gandaki Province Governor Baburam Kunwar said religion bound people and taught discipline.  He also said that every citizen should take the responsibility of implementing federalism successfully.

Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung said the province government had to play a key role in conserving and promoting religious destinations in the province.

Bindabasini Religious Area Development Committee Chair Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha said as many as six lakh domestic and international tourists visited the temple every year. He informed that elderly people and physically challenged people would not be charged for using the elevator.

The elevator was constructed by Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea, in coordination with Laxmi Group.
