Embankments constructed in two rivers in Kanchhanpur

KANCHANPUR: Two embankments have been constructed along the two local rivers in Shuklaphanta Municipality of Kanchanpur district recently.

The ward office of the Shukhlaphanta Municipality-4 built embankments at the total cost of Rs 1.2 million with an aim to curb soil erosion in the area.

The embankments — constructed using stones and wires — at the Sunbora River measures 42 metres in length while Syali River's embankment spans 22 metres.

With the construction of the embankments, the land owned by around 300 families near the rivers are now safe from being swept away, according to Municipality's Ward No-4 Chairperson Gyan Bahadur Bista.

According to Chairperson Bista, the local authority has further allocated Rs 1.6 million for the construction of another 35-metre embankment at Sunbora River and 30-metre embankment in the Syali River in the current fiscal year.
