Encroached Nepali territory should be taken back: NC leader Paudel
POKHARA: Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC), Ram Chandra Paudel, has stressed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli should soon seek measures to reclaim the Nepali territory included in the newly issued political map of India.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Union, Kaski Chapter, Paudel highlighted that it is high time the ongoing border issues between Nepal and India be settled, as both countries have stable governments.
"We know that PM Oli is not in good health but that should not be an excuse to delay resolving the matter and gaining back what is ours. Nepali Congress has started exerting pressure on the government to act faster on the issue and has also shown full support to the government in this regard," he informed.
There is not an ounce of doubt that Kalapani and Susta, among other areas included in the Indian map, belong to Nepal, Paudel added.
The government should quickly initiate talks through both diplomatic and political means as issues of border encroachment are crucial and will become complicated if not solved in time.
Speaking about the upcoming by-elections, he said, NC will win the elections in Kaski Constituency- 2 if the election process is fair and unbiased. The senior NC leader stated that he doesn’t want to hear news regarding booth capture and other unfair means carried out by any parties that are against democratic norms and values.
