CHITWAN: Police arrested an escaped criminal from Chitwan on Saturday evening. Police had to open fire to take him under control.

According to Chitwan District Office, Tika Thapa Magar, 29, of Ramechhap who was on run since 10 days from Dillibajar jail, was arrested from Ramnagar.

Magar who was on his way to Narayangadh on a motorcycle (Na 47 Pa 5052) was stopped for a security check-up but he opened fire at police, informed Chitwan SP Dipak Thapa. Magar then sustained injury when police fired back. He was shot at his hand and thigh.

According to SP Thapa, criminal Magar is admitted to Bharatpur Hospital but will be sent to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Magar was in jail on the charge of robbery.
