Security personnel this morning barred fomer lawmaker of the Nepali Congress Hari Bhakta

Adhikari from flying to Dhangadhi. Adhikari was headed for the district to meet his ailing

wife Narayani. According to a press statement issued by the party central office, Adhikari had already taken his seat aboard the Dhangadhi-bound Sita Airlines aircraft when security personnel barged in and asked him to get off “without assigning any reason”. “The government has continued barring people from travelling whenever and wherever it feels like doing so since the February 1 royal move. The party wants to know on what grounds the former lawmaker was barred from leaving the capital,” the statement said. Meanwhile, former prime minister and president of the Rastriya Janashakti Party, Surya Bahadur Thapa, in a press statement, said that he was surprised to learn that the government has arrested NC leaders Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Chakra Prasad Bastola and Dil Bahadur Gharti and CPN-UML’s central committee member Shubhas Nembang ‘for no reason at all.’ “It is illegal and inhuman to arrest anyone without any proper reason in view of the constitution and the rule of law,” Thapa said. He demanded the government immediately release the leaders.
