Excessive cold upsets Solukhumbu earthquake survivors

SOLUKHUMBU: The April 25 Gorkha Earthquake survivors in Solukhumbu district are facing hardship due to the excessive cold.

Without proper houses to live in and warm clothes to weak, the quake survivors are forced to live in tents and huts where dew and cold wind seep in.

One of the victims, Netra Bahadur Basnet, said that they are finding it hard to live due to the increasing cold.

A local teacher Uddhav Basnet said that his school was receiving less number of students as most of the children at the villages have fallen ill due to the cold.

Another local Dawa Sherpa said that many quake survivors are eagerly waiting for assistance from the government, while some of them have started building houses on their own with government succour nowhere in sight in recent days.

A quake survivor Anjali BK said that they were yet to get warm clothes the government had announced to distribute among them.
