Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City and Khajura Rural Municipality have decided to shut community schools within the local levels due to unbearable heat.

Temperature in Banke district has soared reaching as high as 41 degrees Celsius, affecting normal life of people, and prompting the closure of schools.

All community and institutional schools, and madrasas in the sub metropolitan city will remain shut for three days from June 4 to 6, said Lokendra Shahi, the section officer at the sub-metropolis. Classes missed due to the school closure will be compensated by reducing the period allocated for summer leave, he said.

Community schools within Khajura Rural Municipality will be closed for three days, according to a notice issued by Khagendra Malla, chief of the education, youth and sports section of the rural municipality.
