Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha has said that expansion of Bharatpur Airport will begin in the current fiscal year.

The Nepali Army is ready to provide land for the project and construction work will begin soon, he said while taking part in an interaction on the expansion of the project organised here today by Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

"The Ministry has accorded high priority to the project. It requires around 300 metres land for it and the talk held with the army chief in this regard was positive."

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Pradip Adhikari said a detailed study would be carried out soon.
