Failed ones declared pass in sent-up test
Rupandehi, April 23 :
Even those who had failed in the private sent-up test held by the District Education Office(DEO) this year have been found to have got clearance and declared pass.
One, who had failed in as many as seven subjects out of eight, was declared pass. The Himalayan Times has managed to procure the genuine as well as duplicate mark sheet of this student.
District education officer Laxmi Ram Poudel said that some students were given grace marks in as many as four subjects in accordance with the decision of the examination committee. As per the genuine register, Bidya Sapkota (Roll No 25), failed in all subjects except English. However, in the latest register (duplicate), she received pass marks in all subjects. Similarly, Lok Bahadur Rana (Roll No 149) was also given clearance.
Indra Kumar Chaudhary (Roll No 113) and Purnakala Bhandari (Roll No 27), whose score in Mathematics were zero also managed to receive 32 (pass) marks.
The students (Roll Nos 123, 277, 331) who never appeared in the examination were given second and third division marks in the duplicate register. According to the results published on February 20, 29 students secured second division, 47 third division and 254 passed with grace marks. DEO employees, examination committee and tuition centres charged Rs 2,000 each from them, sources at the DEO said. The duplicate register was produced to hide the evidence of failed students, it is said. Some 30 examinees of Butwal-based Kusum Coaching Centre appeared for the test and the failed ones paid Rs 1,000 each to have clearance, said its staff Sushil Khanal.
The examination for social studies subject was scheduled for April 13 after the owner of the Butwal-based Brihaspati Coaching Centre Yama Shrestha created havoc in the exam centre at the Parasi-based Pawan secondary school.
Nawalparasi CDO Govinda Khanal said a probe is on against the irregularities in the exam.
