Failure to convince people on Constitution contents resulted in Madhes unrest, says PM
CHITWAN: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the failure to publicise contents of the Constitution to the people created an illusion among the Madhesi people to ignite the protracted Madhes agitation.
Addressing the CPN-UML National Cadre Meeting in Sauraha of Chitwan district today, he said the current Constitution has addressed all sectors and all walks of life, including Madhesis, women, indigenous groups, Dalits and minorities.
He urged the party cadres to work closely with the government-launched one-month campaign to clarify all the contents of the Constitution among people of every nook and corner of the nation.
He further said, the UML has always stood for the national harmony among the people living in mountains, hills and plains.
He even stressed that the current crisis in Nepal is due to the blockade imposed by India. The nation is currently reeling under the shortage of essential items including cooking gas, petroleum products and construction materials.
The UML Chairman said the government is committed to creating and maintaining peace and stability in the nation at any cost.
Oli also accused the Madhesi leaders of not being serious towards resolving the current crisis of the nation.
Likewise, CPN-UML Vice-Chairperson Bamdev Gautam said the Constitution has addressed all walks of life.
The meeting would end on Tuesday.
