Farmer repairs rain-damaged road with personal investment
Dhangadi, August 8
A local farmer has repaired a road with his personal investment of Rs 1.21 lakh at Dhangadi sub-metropolis in Kailali.
Hem Bahadur Bista spent the amount to gravel a rain-damaged stretch along the Pipalchautara-Syaune road of Dhangadi Dipayal fast-track. Bista, who is also chairman of Dhangadi-Dipayal Fast Track Construction Service Committee, said he repeatedly requested the province and federal governments to repair the road, but to no avail.
“I have spent the amount on 27 trolleys of gravel to fill the ditches and repair parts of the road.” Bista said the sub-metropolis provided a JCB to level the road. He spent his own money to address the locals’ demands after authorities did not act.
