Farmers protest growing scarcity of chemical fertilisers in Dhading

DHADING: The farmers in Dhading staged a demonstration in front of the District Administration Office (DAO) on Sunday after they could not find chemical fertilisers anywhere in the market.

The farmers are disappointed as there is a growing scarcity of chemical fertilisers in the district. They have demanded to make the fertilisers available in the market.

Further, the irate farmers picketed the main entrance of the DAO and even demanded the agriculture minster's resignation.

Local farmers have been facing problems since Nilakantha Cooperative Company, a private company that had been supplying some of the chemical fertilisers could not bring them this year.

Previously, District Agriculture Development Office used to bring fertilisers by coordinating with stakeholders and various private sectors concerned. However, since the office turned into Agriculture Knowledge Centre, it has not even facilitated coordination with the stakeholders, local farmers expressed.
