GAIGHAT: A man died while another sustained critical injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on collided head-on with a tipper truck in Nepaltar-Gaighat road section along Lokmarga in Udayapur district today morning.

The deceased has been identified as pillion rider Bal Bahadur Magar (48) of Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipalty-7, and the injured as his son Sujan Magar (24), the motorcyclist.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandra Bir Rai at Udayapur District Police Office (DPO), the truck (Na 1 Ka 7347) belonging to Lama Construction, the company engaged in Lokmarga road construction, hit the two-wheeler (Ba 93 Pa 9432) killing the pillion rider on the spot and injuring the rider, at around 8:00 am today.

The injured has been taken to a Biratnagar-based health facility for treatment, said police.

Meanwhile, Udayapurgadhi Police Post has impounded the truck and search is on for its driver who fled the scene after the fatal incident, SP Rai informed.
