Final tribute paid to Dharan mayor

Final rites of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Tara Subba were performed today.

Subba’s last rites were performed as per Limbu tradition and culture at Dharan-19. Subba had breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu-based Grande Hospital five days ago. He was taken to Kathmandu after he suffered chest infection due to pneumonia for treatment.

Subba’s body was kept at the mortuary of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences as his relatives had to come from UK and Hongkong. The body was taken from the BPKIHS to his home at Dharan-17 today. Later, the body was kept on the premises of Dharan sub-metropolis for locals to pay him last tributes. Deputy Mayor ManjuBhandariSubedi, chairs of 20 wards , among others paid their last tributes. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister IshworPokhrel and Province 1 Chief Minister SherdhanRai had draped national flag over his body and offered last tribute.

Minister Pokhrel said Subba was very active, development-friendly and dear to all people from Dharan. He asked people’s representatives to implement plans and projects brought by Subba in Dharan. After condolence ceremony, his body was taken through Dharan Bazaar to Haliyali. Dharan sub-metropolis has declared a public holiday tomorrow to mourn his demise.
