KATHMANDU, APRIL 1
Nepal welcomed 120,516 international visitors in March 2026, maintaining strong recovery momentum in the tourism sector, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
The latest figures represent a 94.6 percent recovery compared to pre-pandemic March 2019 levels, when the country recorded 127,351 arrivals.
India remained the largest source market with 25,728 visitors, accounting for 21.3 percent of total arrivals. It was followed by China with 11,220 visitors (9.3 percent), Sri Lanka with 10,759 (8.9 percent), the United States with 7,974 (6.6 percent), and Myanmar with 6,020 (5 percent).
Region-wise, South Asia contributed the largest share at 35.4 percent, followed by other Asian countries at 27.7 percent. Europe accounted for 17.3 percent of arrivals, the Americas 8.6 percent, Oceania 4.3 percent, the Middle East 1.4 percent, and Africa 0.2 percent, with others making up 4.9 percent.
The Board said the figures indicate a strong regional performance, particularly from South Asian and other Asian markets, as Nepal continues to stabilise its recovery and strengthen its positioning as a global tourism destination.
