Financial aid for orphaned children

District Child Welfare Committee, Khotang, has decided to offer financial aid to three orphans of the same house for their studies.

The children became helpless orphans after the death of their parents. The committee has decided to offer Rs 15,000 collectively to Sabina Rai, 14, Toyami Rai, 11, and Nautan Rai, 8, of Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality of Khotang district.

Their mother Indra Kala Rai died some three years ago while their father Shiva Kumar died only around seven months back. After the death of their parents, their paternal uncle Saran Kumar had taken guardianship to the orphaned children.

Woman and Children Office, Khotang assistant chief Bhuwan Rai said that the orphan children have been recommended for financial support for their education as per the application filed with the committee.

The committee said it would provide the amount after studying the children’s condition, school and house, among other things.

Similarly, the committee has also decided to manage the hostel for mentally challenged children of Siddheshwori Foundation School, Nigale of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality.

District Child Welfare Committee stated that Rs 25,000 would be provided to make separate rooms, wooden flooring, provide clothes, among others, to the children.

Assistant Chief District Officer Santosh Subedi, District Education Coordination Unit Office Chief Thakur Dahal and acting Chief Bhuwan Rai of  Woman and Children Office were given the responsibility of managing the hostel for mentally challenged children.
